| Rakugo, traditional Japanese comic storytelling, has a strong connection to Kyoto, the birthplace of Anrakuan Sakuden (1554-1642), father of Rakugo and Tuyu no Gorobei (d. 1703), founder of Kamigata Rakugo, a style of this storytelling developed in the Kansai area and accompanied by background music. The Kyoto National Museum proudly hosts Rakugo performances four times a year during each season. Enjoy various comic stories in Japanese based on seasonal themes. |
