清風会

The Seifukai Association supports various projects and publications at the Kyoto National Museum and offers special programs and viewings to its members. This organization was first established in October 1953 by art aficionados and supporters of the Museum. The name, Seifukai (Pure Wind Association), was derived from the former estate of the statesman Saionji Kinmochi (1849-1940), Seifuso (Pure Wind Villa), where the inaugural meeting of the group was held.

Later, as Japanese art appreciation increased and interest in the Museum grew, reorganization became necessary and in March 1963, Seifukai became the association that it is today. In May 1978, the creation of a patron program based on corporate support led to further development of the association in financially assisting the Museum with its exhibitions and its acquisition of references as well as in offering its members various benefits such as special viewings. With the official start of the Kyoto National Museum as a semi-privatized independent administrative institution in April 2001, the role of Seifukai association has become increasingly important.
