This Gallery introduces the traditions and techniques of ceramics from various regions in Japan. See the early ceramic ware of eastern Japan that was influenced by pottery from the Kofun period (c. 250-600) and works from western Japan that developed out of Momoyama-period (1573-1615) techniques. And discover the world of Kyoyaki (Kyoto ware) that evolved from the culmination of different techniques and a distinctive aesthetic sensibility in the flowering capital of Kyoto.

This section highlights selective examples of Chinese and Korean ceramic ware from various regions. Special features based on selected themes are exhibited throughout the year. See regional and historical differences in technique and style.
