Bronze Mirrors of the Kofun Period
January 2, 2015 - April 19, 2015

Bronze mirrors were considered important ritual objects by the people of Japan's Kofun period (circa 200s–600s). Numerous different types of mirrors survive, including mirrors with animals and triangular rims, mirrors with bands of deities and animals, mirrors with pictorial images, mirrors with animals, and others. This exhibition features a variety of different bronze mirror designs, suggesting the significance of this research field for understanding the Kofun period.
