Opening of Co-Organized Exhibitions at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco

KNM Co-Organized Exhibition: Japanese Tastes in Chinese Ceramics

Kyoto National Museum has lent seventeen objects from its collection to the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco for the co-organized exhibition "Japanese Tastes in Chinese Ceramics: Tea Utensils, Kaiseki Dishes, and More." This scholarly exhibition is the first project born from a 2021 partnership agreement between the two museums.
"Japanese Tastes in Chinese Ceramics" explores the role of Chinese ceramics in Japanese tea culture. Comprising both Chinese ceramics and Japanese-made objects created in Chinese styles, the exhibition illuminates artistic and cultural exchange between China and Japan. Furthermore, this collaborative exhibition represents a cross-cultural exchange of respect, inspiration, and influence between China, Japan, and the United States that extends through history to the present day.
