- Special Opening of the Meiji Kotokan Hall, April 29 to May 6, 2025
The Meiji Kotokan Hall will be open to the public during this year's Golden Week holiday period (April 29 to May 6, 2025).
The Meiji Kotokan Hall (Main Hall of the Former Imperial Museum of Kyoto) was completed in 1895 and designated an Important Cultural Property in 1969.
While it is usually closed to the public in preparation for seismic upgrades, the building will be open on this special occasion.
Please enjoy this unique opportunity to visit the Meiji Kotokan Hall.
*A ticket to the Special Exhibition Japan, an Artistic Melting Pot is required for entry.

On May 2, 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. (entrance until 7:30 p.m.)

- If the venue becomes crowded, you may be asked to wait to enter.
- There are no tour guides or docents available within the Meiji Kotokan Hall. Please refer to the explanatory panels.
- There are no restrooms available for use in the Meji Kotokan Hall. Please use the restrooms located in the Heisei Chishinkan Wing or the Museum Gardens.
