Special Opening of the Meiji Kotokan Hall and Technical Archives Hall, July 11 to July 20, 2026

As 2026 marks exactly one hundred years since 1926, the first year of the Shōwa period, the museum will hold a special public opening of the Meiji Kotokan Hall, designated an Important Cultural Property in 1969 (Shōwa 44), together with the Technical Archives Hall, constructed in 1930 (Shōwa 5) as a storage facility for the collections of the former Imperial Gift Museum of Kyoto.
We invite visitors to take advantage of this rare opportunity to explore the interiors of buildings that are not ordinarily open to the public.

*During this event, the museum galleries will be closed on July 11 and July 12. Only the museum gardens and outdoor exhibits are open on these days.
