The Kyoto National Museum’s yearly performance of Geiko and Maiko Spring Dance for 2023 will be held in conjunction with International Students Day.
Celebrate the New Year with an elegant dance performance by Geiko and Maiko of Kyoto.

Date and Time:
Monday, January 9, 2023 (National Holiday)
Session 1: 11:00 a.m. (doors open at 10:30 a.m.)
Session 2: 1:00 p.m. (doors open at 12:30 p.m.)
* Two performances of the same program. Each lasts approx. 30 minutes. * Theater to be emptied between performances.
Location:
Heisei Chishinkan Lecture Theater, Kyoto National Museum
Capacity:
200 people per performance
* Non-reserved seating
Participation fee:
Free
* Visitors must pay for museum admission on the day of the performances. * Tickets for the Collections Gallery are free for international students who present their student IDs on this day.

Reservation Period:
  1. Priority Reservation for International Students  Sold out
    Tuesday, November 29, 10:00 a.m. – Monday, December 12, 11:59 p.m. (only 40 advanced tickets available for each session)
  2. General Public  Sold out
    Tuesday, December 13, 10:00 a.m. – Wednesday, January 4, 11:59 p.m.
    * Ticket sales will conclude when tickets sell out

How to apply:
Fill out the online application form following the instructions below.
  1. Select the number of tickets. Up to two tickets may be reserved at a time.
  2. Complete the required information.
    * For multiple international students applying together, please enter the following for each person in the group: 1) school name, 2) student’s name Please note that applications with incomplete information will not be accepted.
  3. You will receive an automatically generated reply email after completing the application verifying the completion of your registration. * Please make sure that your email will receive emails from the domain [@nich.go.jp]. * Contact us if you wish to cancel your application after it has been submitted. * Contact us if you do not receive a confirmation email within a week of completing the application. * You will need to present the screen of your receipt email (or a printout) to enter the venue on the day of the performance. Please do not forget to bring it with you. If there is more than one person registered, you will be allowed to enter the theater once all members of the group have arrived.

Same-Day Tickets:
If there are any seats left after the online registration closes, tickets will be distributed at the museum on the day of the event. We will announce the distribution location and time on this page as soon as they are determined.

Note:
  • All seats are unreserved for both performances. If you would like to select your seat, please gather in front of the auditorium in the basement of the Heisei Chishinkan Wing 30 minutes prior to the opening time of each performance. If you are not particular about your seat, please come to the venue (auditorium) by the time of each performance.
  • Photographs are prohibited during the performance. There will be time at the end of the performance for taking pictures. Tripods are prohibited.
  • To help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, we ask that you wear a mask at all times, wash and disinfect your hands, take your temperature, and practice good cough etiquette when visiting the museum. If you are not feeling well on the day of your visit, we ask that you please refrain from coming to the museum.

  • Events may be cancelled in response to increased coronavirus infection rates or inclement weather. Information on such changes will be posted to the museum website and the Kyoto National Museum official Twitter account (Japanese only) , so please check these for the most up to date information prior to visiting the museum.
