Café Maeda Coffee

Maeda Coffee, founded in 1971, is headquartered near the corner of Takoyakushi and Muromachi Streets close to the main downtown intersection of Shijo Karasuma, famous for the Gion Festival. Since its establishment, Maeda Coffee has proudly offered outstanding house-roasted coffees including its signature blend "Ryunosuke," which has remained unchanged from the beginning, as well as "Kyo," offered exclusively at the Kyoto National Museum café. The menu also includes meal items, such as sandwiches and hashed beef and rice, as well as homemade cakes baked daily at the main shop, parfaits, and other baked goods. Come enjoy coffee, tea, or a light meal in Maeda Coffee's café overlooking the museum, including the nineteenth-century brick Meiji Kotokan (an Important Cultural Property) and the garden with Rodin's The Thinker. Museum admission is not required to enter the café.
